About
Hello! I’m Giulia Cappello.
I’m a professional illustrator and designer and I’m here to bring your business to the next level. To do so, I’ll help you find the best way to share your vision so that you can reach your audience in a clear, powerful and memorable way.
Let’s make it last!
My goal in every project is to illustrate or design something clean, modern and timeless. The great graphic designer Massimo Vignelli said: “If you do it right, it will last forever”.
So, how do we make it last? We work together in each step of the whole project, side by side as if we were part of the same team—because actually, we are.
I’ll listen to your thoughts, wishes and needs. I’ll respectfully consider your ideas if you already have some, and promptly let you know if something doesn’t work—design-wise—explaining to you the reasons why. If you don’t have ideas to start with, I’ll have plenty. We start from the very beginning and then develop concepts step by step. Together, we will review and talk about each phase of the project.
Let’s do it right so that it can last.
Why me?
Clients, colleagues and friends describe me as a very empathic and communicative, motivated and organized person. Small details make a huge difference, and I have an eye for them. I approach my work with great passion and precision.
So why me? Because I’m Giulia Cappello! :)
I do what I love and love what I do
Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved doing things with my hands—drawing and creating things with paper or clay. As a teenager, I was the one sketching and doodling all the time. Even while talking on the phone or during history lessons. In my spare time, I went to painting and photography classes. I loved exploring all that life had to offer with curiosity and vivid imagination, which are still driving forces for me.
Today, I enjoy every phase of the creative process. Even those scary moments when I stare at the white paper without knowing how to fill it. With time and experience, I found out that there’s always a solution for it. I even enjoy the moments when I am blocked and have no idea how to go on. And—of course—the eureka moments under the shower or while I am walking on the street—I then feel so glad that I start smiling at everyone.
The job I chose makes me passionate and happy, and I truly love it.
To me, it’s as simple as that.
My background
I graduated summa cum laude from Academy of Fine Arts (Florence, Italy) in 2011 with a BFA in graphic arts. After my studies, I first worked as an illustrator and graphic designer in a startup that made DIY crafts and games for children, and then as a user interface designer—someone similar to a web designer—in a communication agency focused on clients ranging from politics, administration and economy.
Today, I live in Berlin, Germany, a wonderful international city that I simply adore.
What my clients and former colleagues say about me
Something more about me?
In case you’d like to know more: I adore dancing and I am now learning how to swing dance to jazz music. After some steps on the dance floor, my mood usually pivotes to joy, so, if I am having a bad day, I have the cure for it.
I fluently speak four languages.
As an authentic Italian daughter, I learned from mamma and nonna how to cook and bake, activities I still enjoy each time as if it were the first one.
I love many forms of art, like cinema, fine and perfomative arts. I care about the wonderful planet we’re living in, trying to do my best to leave it better than I found it.
