Fair Trade Coffee – UI Illustrations
When we choose to buy Fairtrade certified coffee, we know that the beans are grown using rigorous standards, which support farmers and their communities, and help protect our environment. In case we choose to do it online, we might stumble upon an emotionally compelling website like the one shown in this project.
Taking inspiration from an existing brand, I have created a series of illustrations for an online shop that sells fair trade, organic, and delicious coffee. This series adds value to the shop, beautifying the website and also catching users’ attention on important information about the product and the brand’s unique features.
In the main illustration my purpose is to show the concept of fairness by using the Justice Arcana, here represented by a Guatemalan farmer holding a scale made of cups of coffee. Decorative elements such as trees and coffee beans give a frame to the concept and depth to the illustration.
For the spot illustrations I chose a playful approach. A high quality coffee bean can give us the right amount of strength to start our day with energy. Delicious coffee can smell like fairness, too. A coffee maker’s grip can look like a position icon, giving us reassurance about the traceability of the coffee itself.
